Our room was spacious and quiet. The pool was large and not dingy and smelly despite it being indoors. The kids loved it after a long day of road-tripping. There were nice touches like decent chairs in the rooms and also outside of the rooms. Breakfast was good as far as ‘free’ hotel breakfasts go. We got the suite that had a king, two queens and a sofa bed and it was perfect.

People were very friendly, it is a small area so the weekend...
People were very friendly, it is a small area so the weekend was plenty of time to visit the neighboring smaller towns (Prairie city) The weather was quite warm as expected and it was a long drive from the valley that we enjoyed seeing the country side. Make sure to have your car in good working condition, fill up with gas at every opportunity because there are stretches of drive with no gas options. This is the third time or fourth time that I am rating this hotel. You need to fix your system. The best feature is the Outpost Restaurant next door. The service was efficient and friendly. The hotel needs some cosmetic repairs, but all was functional.

The town is tiny but we found two excellent places to eat.
The town is tiny but we found two excellent places to eat. 1188 Brewing had excellent dinners and beer and the Outpost served amazing breakfasts! The location was a good base for exploring the John Day fossil beds and the Strawberry Mountain wilderness area. Perfect for outdoorsmen, hunters, fisherman, foragers!
Perfect for outdoorsmen, hunters, fisherman, foragers! A nice step back in time. Area is rich in in Southeastern Oregon history. Very Educational. Great for getting outside with the kids and enjoy nature. Many activities a car ride away. If you want to slowdown and take a breather, John Day is a nice outlet!

The Reception was very friendly and we immediately felt at home. Rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. In the back there is a fireplace and grill so you can relax and go for a BBQ. This place is higly recommended and the price is right. Should we be in the area we will most certainly return to this nice place.

It's on the outskirts of John Day and even with the highway near, our room was very quiet. I paid extra in order to have my dog and it was a very good location to be with a pet. The refrigerator was larger than usually seen in motel rooms which came in handy. I liked that there was an actual coffee pot for us to use. The couple running the motel were very nice.

We were in John Day for a wedding. Overall once the issues were taken care of it was fine. The staff were pleasant but unexperienced in managing a motel/customer service. EDUCATION!! lots of programs out there for these type of needs. The motel itself changed names and that could have been a major factor is this mishap.

The breakfast was OK, normal hotel breakfast - scrambled eggs, waffles, cereal, toast, pastries, etc.. The location was good though. It is right on the Main street, ready to take you where ever you need to go.
